Each year New Collection throws it’s annual Hush Hush party to help raise money for the Toronto Public Library
There ain’t no party, like a library party. This past Saturday young professionals from across the city attended New Collection’s annual ‘Hush Hush: Dewey Decimal to Digital,’ event to raise funds for Toronto Public Library.
New Collection is the modern take on a book club for tastemakers, offering memberships for professionals under age 45 exclusive access to the city’s vibrant literary scene.
Guests were greeted with Campari Aperol Spritz drinks as they entered the Bloor/Gladstone branch. Mixing nostalgia with today’s tech, the evening was a nod to both the past, present and future of Toronto’s library system, showing how far its come.
It’s not a party without good eats, and great music and this was no exception. Toronto’s top caterers including Food Dudes, Nadege, and Thoroughbred, among others, teased guests tastebuds with their delectable eats. Celebrity foodie, author and tv personality Lauren Toyota served up gourmet vegan comfort food from her cookbook while a candy bar from Squish Candy satisfied all sweet tooths.
Toronto-based creative agency Array of Stars offered guests an immersive VJ experience, while DJ Barbi had people dancing between the stacks with her synth beats. Taking a break from the dance floor, attendees had a chance to try out virtual reality, 3D printing, building their own gaming system and of course — to renew their library cards.
With no shortage of cocktails, attendees sipped on beverages from Open Wines, Last Straw Distillery, Skyy vodka, Eska Water, Just Craft Soda, and a custom library brew created by Amsterdam Brewery. The brew will be sold for limited time in Amsterdam BrewHouse Pubs — $1 from every pint purchased will be donated to TPL.
