Who to look out for at RESET:
A Toronto-based fashion designer, Mani Jassal’s aesthetic has been seen in national and international magazines, such as Playboy, Vice and Vanity Fair.
This year, Ross Mayer debuts a collection for men, the line represents Mayer’s theme: “Where luxury meets street.” Though Mayer Man won’t be on a runway this year, there will be a pop-up shop during the week.
Created by Montreal-based designers Andy Long Hoang and Tinashe Musara, WRKDEPT is ready-to-wear unisex fashion.
Runway shows to watch:
One of the top menswear fashion designers in Canada, Milan-based Christopher Bates is known for his versatility, from being featured in GQ Brazil to Esquire China to Women’s Wear Daily.
Hayley Elsaesser is not only a fashion designer, but also her own brand. Her “intellectual” style and colourful designs have attracted the eyes of several celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Joe Jonas.
On her way to becoming Canada’s number one cruelty free womenswear line, Hilary MacMilan is a Canadian contemporary womenswear designer. Her clothes have been worn Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, Fefe Dobson and Tessa Virtue.
Designed by Nikki Wirthensohn Yassemi, Narces is a Toronto-based womenswear line designed for formal events such as weddings and cocktail parties.
FASHION TALKS
Fashion talks is a speaker series that includes many influential and international fashion icons. Speakers in the past have been Derek Blasberg, host of CNN Style, Petra Collins, leading voice of the new-wave feminism movement and Ariane Phillips, a Tony-nominated fashion designer.
