Feb 15, 2019: This Week in Sports Social Media

Welcome to TWISSM, GLORY's weekly snapshot of all that is good, bad and ugly in the world of sports on social media.

This week, one NBA player who knows he’s made for greatness, a college athlete’s tough decision, and of course, because of Valentine’s Day, a little dose of love and sports.

strong>Here, the top 5 sports Instagrams of the week:

There’s little doubt that Russell Westbrook is one of the best basketball players and most stylish athletes on earth. Heading into the NBA All Star break, he set the record for most games straight, with a triple-double (11). When the Thunder lost to the Pelicans, Westbrook’s only response to the loss was this: “I’ve been blessed with the talent to not give a f*ck.”

Is it just us or are you over winter too? Thankfully spring training is nearly upon us. As you’ll note here, someone is headed south to get a jump on things.

Kyler Murray has apparently made his choice.

There aren’t many people out there who would turn down $4 million dollars for a career of uncertainty and countless shots to the head. But here’s one: meet Kyler Murray. A top 5 pick in last years MLB baseball draft, Murray chose to forgo a baseball career in favour of a shot at playing as a quarterback in the NFL. Sure, he won the Heisman trophy and he’s got a great arm, but so did Johnny Manziel

We don’t mind a little PDA. This year, athletes took to social media like the rest of us to proclaim love for that someone special on Valentine’s Day. (Is it just us or did you also find it weird that Tom Brady found the time to creep up in everyone else’s comments?)

When it comes to love, sometimes all you have to do is ask. That’s exactly what one Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan did this week. She asked her crush Mitch Marner to be her Valentine, and he obliged. Some say it was the pigtails, but maybe it was the seats?
