Rucksacks have become a symbol of adventure, escape and being brave enough to charter your own path. They have bid adieu to the utilitarian days of existing in school yards and have since traversed city streets on the backs of urban commuters, climbed to the peaks of distant mountaintops with modern explorers, and hit the runways home to models and celebrities. They have become a staple of techno-fashion where style and function hold equal title. And now, they can even open your brews for you. [/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”15174″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Now, beer and backpacks may seem like an odd pairing at first but Scottish brewer, Innis & Gunn, and Toronto-based maker of durable and stylish goods, YNOT, will quickly convince you otherwise. Project Ampersand, the new collaboration between the brewer and brand, offers a cultural convergence that blends the urban landscape of Toronto with the Highlands in Scotland to create a limited edition Rucksack that is unique not only in appearance and materials but in its origin. If you want a premium product, with technical features and a minimal aesthetic — this might be the bag for you.

Why we love it: Who doesn’t like a good origin story? This is a limited edition item, ideal for the person who either has it all, or who values quality equally as originality. Every YNOT product is made from the ground up in Toronto by a small team, inspired by a big idea: to build dependable gear that lasts a lifetime. It only takes a moment of feeling and wearing the bag to tell that the quality is undeniable.
The bag itself is comfortable, spacious, and features a large main compartment with a laptop sleeve, internal and external pockets, (and a few other features listed below.)
The Original Rucksack, inspired by Innis & Gunn’s ‘The Original’, was designed to exemplify a commitment to form, function, and durability. But it’s the origin story that really makes you feel like you’re a part of something special.
Designer Tony Mammoliti traveled to the Innis & Gunn brewery in Scotland to gather inspiration — I think it’s safe to say, he found it. Elements of Innis & Gunn’s brewing process can be found all throughout the bag, lending to it’s individuality.
The curves and colour of the oak barrels inspired the silhouette of the rucksack, shoulder straps, and the oak wax canvas exterior, which feels durable and smooth. Leather details from authentic cooper’s aprons provided by Innis & Gun give style and function, adding protection and weight to the wax canvas material of the rucksack. The bag has a slight weight to it, not in the sense of feeling heavy, but in a way that reassures you of it’s durability. This is made to last.
The unique finishing touches that propel this to individuality is the use of an old oak barrel previously used in Innis & Gunn’s brewing process that was cut to make up the bag’s main cord lock, and the muslin bag each rucksack is shipped in. (The muslin bags are actually used in the Innis & Gunn Original brewing process.)
To top it off, the bag has a beer sleeve and built-in bottle opener (to be used responsibly), because, why not?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid style=”pagination” element_width=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1575491277947-1d513038-1060-2″ include=”15166,15165,15164,15163″][vc_custom_heading text=”Features” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:18|text_align:center” css=”.vc_custom_1575488376877{background-color: #c4c4c4 !important;}”][vc_column_text]
