While each garment grew bolder, the collection’s real standout could have been none other than Chanel’s newest it-bag—the CHANEL 22 handbag. Designed by Virginie Viard, the latest bag is undeniably an icon in the making.
The bag follows its Chanel 19 predecessor, symbolizing the start of the new year with a new bag. Of course, the name also pays homage to the N°22 fragrance created in 1922 and emphasizes the historical connection between the brand’s repertoire and its reigning legacy in the fashion industry.

Though the CHANEL 22 handbag is offered in different sizes and numerous colours, the principal of each model is alike. Each one adopts the codes of the House; bags destined to become timeless, with the quilted leather and metal chain interlaced and refined CHANEL hardware finishings adorning each piece.
While the bag appears both chic and high fashion, it’s hard not to notice a departure from the miniature barely-there bag trends we’ve seen of late. This style seemingly emerged from the Y2K resurgence that took off in 2020/2021 and have largely focused on form rather than functionality. Instead, Chanel’s latest handbag offering focuses on the needs of today’s working woman. It’s simple and comfortable yet functional and light, giving its wearer the agency to navigate her day with ease—an “ally for daily life.”
