Where does a luxury fashion brand go once it has conquered the wardrobe? The house, of course.
Ralph Lauren Home launched in 1983, and Fendi Casa was introduced in 1988. In the decades since, other luxury fashion houses such as Marni and Hermès have made compelling forays into the world of interiors, releasing decorative objects and announcing furniture collaborations at industry events such as the Milan Furniture Fair, or Salone del Mobile.
Most recently, Louis Vuitton unveiled its Objets Nomades collection—for which it has collaborated with star designers such as Marcel Wanders and Patricia Urquiola—in 2012, and Gucci Décor launched in 2017.
These launches and collaborations are not surprising; after all, the global luxury furniture market is expected to be worth over $35 billion next year, according to an Allied Market Research study. And in an ever-changing retail landscape, where personalized, curated products and immersive brand experiences are key, it’s no wonder that these haute brands are no longer content to simply outfit your wardrobe, but your homes, too.
