5 of LA’s Best Healthy Restaurants

5 of LA’s Best Healthy Restaurants

Ahead of the clean-eating game for decades, here’s a taste of the LA lifestyle.

Los Angeles has become synonymous with fresh-pressed juices, farm-to-table fare, and plant-based restaurants long before the respective crazes made their way into major cities around the world. The best thing about L.A.’s food scene is that it caters to every dietary restriction – you can never be too picky or too restricted in La-La Land.

Here, we’ve rounded up a five of L.A.’s healthiest, trendiest restaurants.

Café Gratitude

With multiple locations throughout southern California, including one in Venice Beach and one in Beverly Hills, a meal at plant-based spot Café Gratitude comes with a side of positive affirmations. Every dish at Café Gratitude is an affirmation, whether it’s the “connected” guacamole, the “exquisite” coconut calamari, the “pure” Asian kale and wakame salad, the “blessed” blackened tempeh Bolognese, or the “humble” Indian curry bowl. These are  just a few dishes from their plentiful menu.

Malibu Farm

For a scenic meal, head to Malibu Farm, a fresh farm-to-table spot on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu that’s complete with stunning views of the ocean below,  especially during sunset. Here, you’ll find breakfast options like quinoa oatmeal or tofu-spinach-tomato scramble; for lunch, crowd-pleasing protein-packed salads and cauliflower flatbreads. And the best part? Dinner. Think: fish tacos, spaghetti squash lasagna, and mustard lemon roast chicken.

True Food Kitchen

Catering to every health-focused diet, Santa Monica’s True Food Kitchen features a wide selection of creative (and Instagram-worthy) vegan, vegetarian, organic, and gluten-free option,  all of which are clearly marked on the menu. Its highlights include jam-packed salads, an assortment of colourful bowls that cater to whatever your cravings (from curry to teriyaki), and their famous Inside Out Quinoa Burger.

Over in the trendy Silver Lake neighbourhood, you’ll find Sqirl, a counter-service café that dishes up ingredient-driven breakfasts and lunches that are worth waiting for. A go-to for local residents as well as a destination spot, Sqirl has developed a cult following for its grain bowls and breakfast salads, as well as its more decadent options, like brioche piled high with a creamy homemade ricotta. Don’t leave this spot without grabbing a jar of their signature house-made jam.

Gracias Madre

Plant-based foodies with a soft spot for Mexican fare, will appreciate West Hollywood’s celeb staple Gracias Madre. The spot’s meatless Mexican is entirely vegan and organic, with guacamole, tacos, and quesadillas popular menu items. These are complemented by an assortment of tequila-filled cocktails (it’s all about balance, right?) and even a selection of CBD-infused drinks.
