Veteran guard Jeremy Lin announces his plans to sign with the Toronto Raptors after he and the Atlanta Hawks worked out a buyout agreement, leaving fans amped about Lin-Sanity joining the team.
“Everyone who knows me know how big my dreams are and that I have so much left to give to the game. Hyped to join the Raptors!!” Lin wrote on his Instagram Monday.
Lin thanked the Hawks for the opportunity to let him play. “Coming off of two years of being injured, you helped me become myself again on the basketball court and allowed me to experience the joy of hoops again,” he wrote.
The Taiwanese-American basketball player, who graduated from Harvard University, has a massive and diverse following, as he’s become one of the most celebrated Asian players in the NBA. And when he officially joins the Raptors, it will become Lin’s eighth NBA franchise, after playing with Golden State, the Knicks, Houston, the Lakers, the Hornets, Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta.
And the Raptors diverse fan base, including the Asian community, took to social media to show their excitement and anticipation for Lin-Sanity.
